Wonder Woman

Gal Gadot as Diana in Wonder Woman.

I've been looking forward to seeing a female superhero movie for a long time and the wait is almost over as Wonder Woman opens on June 2. The initial reviews are very good - on IMDB it gets an 8.4 and on Rotten Tomatoes it is getting 97% from critics. It's "only" a superhero movie but Wonder Woman has been an important cultural icon in decades past and hopefully with a successful premiere movie she'll continue to be in future decades.

It will be interesting to see if the movie version is close to the feminist vision of her creator William Moulton Marston. I'll add my impressions after seeing it.

Wonder Woman is having a very strong opening. Reviews remain very positive with Rotten Tomatoes critics giving it 94% and users giving it 93%. It looks like a $ 100 Million opening weekend which will make it the highest ever for a movie directed by a woman (Patty Jenkins)  We are going with friends to see it on Sunday, and I can't wait! It's succeeding beyond expectations and I'm feeling kind of teary about that; young girls will have a wonderful hero to look up to.

I've just watched the trailer. I'm usually not into superhero movies, cause it's not in my culture but it looks quite interesting. I'd watch it, now need to find a company to go

I've just got back from the cinema and am totally torn.

I bloody loved the movie it was awesome awesome awesome and gripped me from beginning to end. However I feel like a bad girl and a bad feminist as I could just think of how hot she was. I was worse than any of the guys in the cinema - in fact I'm sure I salivated at one point with open mouth.
I'm sure I will forgive myself - especially when I watch it again :D

* caution - may contain spoilers *

I really enjoyed Wonder Woman and felt that it did a lot of things right about the character and her story that is true to the original vision of her creator(s). I loved Gal Gadot and she captured my complete attention whenever she was on the screen - I loved the way she looked, the way she moved, the way she spoke - everything. (When she was looking particularly sexy I thought of you @BenedettaC:D) My only complaint would be that she sometimes had to let men say things, but even then I loved watching her.

The essence of the original comic book hero was that she was an inspiration for girls by being strong and powerful physically but tempering the use of that power with compassion and love . The movie clearly reflected this. I also loved that they showed us her superior intellect and her complete mastery of languages.

The best moment of the movie was when Diana was with Steve Trevor in the boat and they were talking about sex and reproduction and she said "men are necessary for procreation but completely unnecessary for pleasure". I was wondering if and how they were going to portray lesbianism in the movie (which has been depicted in recent graphic novels, and was part of her creator's agenda). I was watching the opening scenes of Themyscira like a hawk for any signs of PDA between the women and was disappointed that it wasn't really shown, and then that line from Diana struck me like a THUNDERBOLT! Good job writers!

I also loved that they had Etta Candy as a character who was important in the early DC comics as Wonder Woman's sassy, feisty sidekick.

I was a little disappointed that much of the second part of the movie had a lot of screen-time for male characters. I would have greatly preferred if several Amazon warriors left with Diana as a personal bodyguard and that they became the supporting cast for the subsequent dangerous mission(s).

I watched it yesterday. Gal Gadot slayed it! Oh my god. I enjoyed looking at her so much (even if it was all retouched), I feel bad. Today in the office I told colleagues, one of them who saw it just said, "she is so beautiful, isn't she?" :D

while watching it I was like, oh, isn't this Robin Wright? isn't this Elena Anaya?

I'm not into comics and I don't read any and very rarely watch any (the last one was Spider man 3 so long ago) but I loved this movie, although I'm not a fan of too many special effects. I only found one of the actors too old for the character he was playing, in my opinion. I was inspired by it, actually, I went out in the street after and it felt surreal and I felt like a badass wonder woman myself loooooooooool

I was thinking of giving up on karate next year but after yesterday I was like, nahhh, I will continue with martial arts :D

This really but a big smile on my face! Yay! It's great to have such an inspirational hero :)

The movie was FANTASTic!  Even my brother who should have been born in another era ( don't  get me started on this neanderthal) thought it as an excellent movie, one of the better super hero movies he has seen!

I haven’t seen this movie, super hero movies aren’t usually my thing...but as @BenedettaC said above, I’d watch it just to see Gal Gadot in that outfit...that woman is ridiculously hot...so Wonder Woman is going on my list of must see movies

On the list of the top people Googled in 2017, you'll find newly engaged Suits star Meghan Markle.  She was followed by men embroiled in 2017's sexual misconduct scandals like Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey and Bill O'Reilly.

Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot, finished at No. 10.

Does she ever have it! A top 10 google search finish is pretty amazing. Hooray!
