What's Your Fave Gay/lesbian/bisexual Movie?

62 posts in this topic

I love me some Brokeback Mountain. LOL. I know it's gay men, but I remember being fascinated with it even before I knew I was bisexual.

Other than that, I love Carol and Imagine Me and You.

Any others? Favorite scenes? Hot scenes?

Hell, I haven't seen any, either. With 5 kiddos at home, I barely have time to watch my mainstream shows online. LOL

Young & Wild (2012) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2125698/

Love this film. Can't believe how underrated it is.

And it's on Netflix, at least in my country...

Tomboy (2011) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1847731/

Appropriate Behavior (2014) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3077108/

pretty nice, but not great.

Show Me Love (1998) - http://www.imdb.com/...ref_=fn_al_tt_1

very cute Swedish movie from great director Lukas Moodysson

Personal Best (1982) - http://www.imdb.com/...?ref_=nv_sr_1es

it approaches bisexuality in a very natural way, especially if we consider it's a movie from the 80's

Water Lilies (2007) - http://www.imdb.com/...7/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Mädchen in Uniform (1931) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0022183/

Stranger by the Lake (2013) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2852458/

and I can't wait to see The Handmaiden...

EDIT

Female Perversions (1996) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116293/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Showgirls (1995) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114436/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

Paul Verhoeven is awesome. Imdb voters know nothing :P

I will have to check these out. Only seen show me love from your list. The handmaiden is amazing. I've already seen in twice. The husband loved it too! Maybe not as shocking if you've seen or read Fingersmith first, although a lot more sex than in the British version. Also beautifully filmed and damn sexy!

There was a movie in IFC (back before they went commercial) and I think it was called "Room in Paris" or something like that. I only saw part of it and it involved a French lesbian bringing a straight American girl home to her apartment and seducing her. It got hotter as it went along but I never got to finish it. Now I can't find it anywhere. Anyone know about this movie? I'd love to catch up with this one but I'm not even sure I got the title right.

DEBS and - just been on telly for viewers in the UK pop over to iPlayer - Pride. DEBS is a fun spy school thing with the delicious Jordana Brewster in it. Pride... is a feelgood film about gay and lesbian people and the UK 1984 mining union strike, which is more fun than that sounds :D

Going back to the original post, I love how Brokeback Mountain was talked about as being a gay cowboy film when it's about bisexual shepherds ;)

Also, Chasing Amy for the speech scene about how we don't have to be the bisexual cliche people pick for us.

Only just got round to watching Carol... AWESOME film. I loved that it focused so much on women's perspective, even down to framing so much of the film around the gazes of the two women.

Others... La Belle Saison, French (English title Summertime), about two women falling in love in 1970s France. I especially liked the scenes set in Paris with the feisty French feminists! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4080768/

Doushitemo Furetakunai, Japanese (English title No Touching At All), about a bisexual man and gay man falling in love. Film adaptation of a best-selling Japanese manga novel, themes including homophobic workplace bullying and how past experiences affect our ability to love again. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3902600/

Holding The Man, great Australian film adaptation of Tim Conigrave's memoir of the same name, about a gay couple. http://www.imdb.com/...ref_=ttpl_pl_tt

The Colour Purple - the gorgeous Whoopi Goldberg and Margaret Avery together, especially the scene where Shug sings to Celie. http://www.imdb.com/...9/?ref_=nv_sr_1

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo trilogy, original Swedish films (although with very triggering scenes of sexual violence which I couldn't watch, Noomi Rapace is stunning). http://www.imdb.com/...0/?ref_=nv_sr_3

Velvet Goldmine, Brit glam-rock flick with thinly-disgused Bowie/Iggy characters. http://www.imdb.com/...9/?ref_=nv_sr_3
