Reporting Spammers: Procedural Query

38 posts in this topic

As far as I know, she's been the owner of the domain now for nearly 12 years and I think she secured ownership when the site itself was free to maintain. The cost part of the site is the extras like chat and spam filters and being able to add mods. I'm pretty sure we don't have to worry about the site just disappearing one day because the mods are doing all they can and are very active.

As they control the spammers, it helps to keep the site secure and I'm not sure if La-Femme still gets notifications when someone donates to the site, but I have donated recently.

I really hope that's the case. I have been here almost 4 years now I would hate to loose the site.

WOOHOO maby we wont have to ban 20-40 men or bots a day now.

It will make it easier for the 2 mods that are most active.

Thanks La-Femme so glad to have you back :)

What are the guidelines for a post being considered spam? I made a post earlier today that was flagged as spam, I think because I included the brand name of a pharmaceutical. I want to abide by community standards but I can't if I don't know what they are.

I'm not a Shys moderator so I'm guessing, but you can take a look at the source code on the web pages (depends on your browser but CTRL+U for me) - at the very bottom you find some words and phrases that I think get tagged automatically, though I'm not going to try them just to find out. A surprising amount involving horses!

Sometimes that stuff happens automatically, and moderators can’t change it.  I saw the post you are referring to, and what you posted was totally benign, but for whatever reason, that stuff, I think because so often spammers post about selling Viagra online and such, it triggers a spam warning.

Thanks for the tip. Source code generally intimidates me but this sounds pretty straightforward.

:) you just read it and then close the window, there isn't any need to be a tech whizz and know how to make any changes
