A few years ago we had a facility to make donations to help out the site, but it fell by the wayside as trying to make it work caused me a lot of trouble, and up until now, I've always been able to cope with the monthly bills as they come in. However, the last few months have been a little more difficult. Personal circumstances have changed and I'm kind of struggling a little bit sometimes meeting the bills for the site.

Soooo, and I hate to come across as begging, ( it makes me cringe actually).. I've set up a donation facility on the site. Everything helps. Donations can be anonymous as can the amounts. There's a monthy 'goal' in place of $100.. but ignore it. It comes with the donation software I've put in and resets itself every month ( can't seem to find a way to stop it appearing).

But here's what I'd really like to say ( deep breath )

Shybi has been, and hopefully always will be free.

I've ran this site since 2005 using my own money because I experienced first hand, how little there was out there on the internet for bicurious and bisexual women. Somewhere safe, welcoming and supportive. Myself and the moderators all strive to achieve that here.

All the moderators are volunteers and they work very hard. And despite how big this forum is, there is still only me behind the whole thing...running this and the guys site, as an ordinary mum on a battered old laptop from my living room :-).
We've grown a lot over the years, and with it, my expenses. And I don't mind telling you that my pocket takes a hammering some months, especially when it comes to renewing things like chat licenses, and the monthly hosting fees for a forum this size.

Anything at all you can donate will be much appreciated. And all put to good use keeping this site free and improving things for all members who land here, looking for friendship, advice, support.. and most importantly, being part of a bi community we can ALL be very, very proud of. I know I am !

Thanks for reading. LF x

Ps donations go to my other more personal site email address. I changed it from the la-femme   shybi site one ( though still the same account ) in case it caused anyone any embarrassment or awkward moments.

la-femme,

thank you for your candor and though money is unbeleivably tight for myself as well, I would love to  (and will) help as soon as I can. I love this site and can't express my gratitude that its here, and yes, free.

Thank You and Hopefully some lovely shy out there is a millionaire

hello LF,

i know that you bought an add-on module for the donation thingy, and it may not even be possible to rewrite some parts of the code.....

but... if i could make a tiny suggestion?

i have no issue with the "Top Donors" boxy thingy. its greatttttt.

For "Latest Donations" boxy thingy, its nice to see Members Names are up there :) .....but could you put 'invisible/white ink' on the donated amounts? the part that says ($XXX).

its only a suggestion, there is no rush (definitely NOT a priority for the site to run properly) and dont worry about it if its too much hassle.

thank you.

xx CG

Yes I think I could do that. I didn't have a lot of time to do anything apart from install it before rushing off for the school run etc.

There are different parts of the 'hook' that can be enabled and disabled I think.  And I'll have a play now..

But I can't thank everyone enough for their generosity... think I might melt into a puddle if I don't pull myself together and focus on something lol. Thanks everyone xxx

Oh and just a note, donations and amounts can be completely anonymous if that's what you prefer. Username and/or amount. Only just noticed the little boxes myself a short time ago.

Thanks everyone. :girlinlove:

I'm really tight budget-wise with school and making payments off of my wages at work for living expenses, however, hopefully, sometime I'll be able to donate a little. I think this is a great site to keep going, and you are remarkable for all of your hard work and dedication. The mods are absolutely wonderful workers as well.

Without this site LF I would still be in total denial.
Donating believe me is the least I could do considering everything Shybi has given me.
I never knew you used your own money, your dedication is there for everyone to see.
Many Thanks LF :)

I haven't been here long and I've seen so many women's lives transformed because of Shys and so many more join everyday asking the same questions, posting the same dilemmas.  We owe it to you la-femme and the moderators too.  Donating is the least I could do.  I know without Shys I'd be lost :)

hey lacy, if i could jump in and offer some guidance....

i dont have a paypal account, i donated via my credit card. Paypal is only the "intermediary" in this case, or the payment gateway to allow the donations to be "transmitted" to LF.

After 2 screens, when it finally comes to ACTUAL payment, a screen will actually say "pay via paypal" or "pay with a Card"?

however, if you dont have a credit card, you can also use a debit card..... Matty's reply #31:

La Femme it's a really great idea, I send donations to house mixes.com  I send him cash through royal mail, he always gets it ok, it's easier for me. But that's ok if you're willing to give out your address details.

Thanks for this info CG...
I have a credit and debit card so I will happily make a donation... I would say I agree with Morgana's post. I had absolutely no idea that LF used her own money to finance this site...
I suppose I always assumed there were some site sponsors...

Thanks again for the information CG and thank you to all the moderators and LF for all your hard work and dedication :)

Thanks La Femme for all your hard work. I have been wondering how the costs of running this site were met and now that I know your finance it yourself, I am more than happy to make a donation! I do love the fact that it is available to all and that it is advert free.

I don't think that any other site on the internet has ever had an impact on my life in the way that Shybi has, and I'm extremely grateful for your for time and energy in creating it. It has given me the confidence to be myself and that is invaluable! :)

It warms my heart to see women stepping up and contributing. The financial commitment can be shared--and now it is. I like seeing people putting actions behind words. It's phenomenal.

A belated (apologies) thank you to Cola Gurl for getting this ball rolling. *doffs cap* You're a generous and thoughtful woman. I've always said so. I know so.
