I live in the middle of Cardiff, so escaping isn't particularly easy.  It also depends on what sort of escape I want - I often go for a walk around Bute Park and it's amazing how peacful it can be, despite being so close to a main road.  I love walking in the rain if I'm upset, so in that situation I wait until about 10pm, wrap up, plug in my ipod and just walk the streets in the rain.  People think I'm mad doing that, but at that time of night peopl are really wary about even looking at you, and in the dark and the rain there are less people around anyway - I've done a 5mile walk and not seen another person, which is exactly what I want when I'm in that sort of mood.

Desperately jealous and I loooove walking in the rain since everyone else heads inside. I can't imagine what it must be like to see all that everyday. I have to hike my ass of just to get a decent view. When in home in Cape Breton the highlands are view after view. It's amazing and where I feel at home.

Wow, lovemuffin, what great photos!

This forum in particular is actually a great escape haha.

But... definitely a yoga class. Nothing makes me feel better than that post-yoga "I'm awesome" glow.

And sometimes I'll go take walks down by the waterfront by myself and an awesome playlist. Ahhhhh, solitude is so relaxing sometimes :)

Definitely the beach :) There is a place were people fish and there is a resident seal and it is funny to watch it steal their fish :)

The pictures below where taken at the Farne Islands :)

I like to go to the beach sometimes or over to my friend's place where she has horses. Sometimes I go downtown to walk. I spend a lot of time in my bedroom on this computer so that's mostly my escape. Oh sometimes I'll take my bicycle for a ride to get out and clear my thoughts.

WOW those waterfalls look amazing!! I certainly don't have anything like that to run away to here, but I like just going on a drive. There is a wildlife refuge around here that's nice and quiet, I drive out there sometimes.

After I move to Colorado I think I'll have more than enough places to escape to =)

If I want to shut my brain down, i go to gym, put my music on max and i run and run and run ...nothing clears my mind like cardio activity.

When I want to relax and dream a little I go to this place near my house....there is a bench on the top of a hill and sometimes the sunsets there are just surreal... I just sit there above the clouds and enjoy the beauty of the moment..

I use beautiful guided visualisations to a desolate beech.

It's not sun-kissed or perfect; it's very real. It has a slight breeze and sometimes fine rain, but it's deserted, the ocean stretches for miles and is so blue and calm, and there's a huge rocky cliff behind me, as i sit in my mind's beech, listening to the silence of nature.... and I can centre myself, relax and find that peace for my soul.

Those pictures are beautiful LoveMuffin. It must be wonderful to be able to just escape to somewhere so calm looking. I live near the ocean so I like to take a walk along the beach, or go out into the garden and just escape there. There are some really pretty drives around here too; when I'm really upset I tend to drive to one of our parks or forests and just walk around.

Shyha, beautiful place to escape. I will have to take a photo of the one place I used to go to back in my home town. I still have not found that here in Europe yet.

For now my way of escape are my books. I can pick up a boom and travel to a whole new world.

My idea of escaping is getting outdoors.  I love going to the beach or hiking through a forest.  So peaceful and quiet.

When I need to escape I usually just go for a walk wherever I am. This is more effective
When I'm at home rather than in uni accommodation in Cardiff.

Otherwise I play my guitar, it lets me get out my emotions in a
Positive way.

Sometimes when try to get away from life I find what I am escaping is not life at all because I find life whilst escaping the humdrum world of others...

I inevitably head for the sea, a forest, an empty church or the hills

You're neither unnatural, nor abominable, nor mad; you're as much a part of what people call nature as anyone else; only you're unexplained as yet -- you've not got your niche in creation.Radclyffe Hall
Language is surely too small a vessel to contain these emotions of mind and body that have somehow awakened a response in the spirit Radclyffe Hall

I go to the beach if I want to clear my mind and seek clarity or I'll do some yoga. If I want to rid myself of negative emotions I'll go for a run.

That is beautiful place. I can see why you would feel free there.
